Thesis (Ph.D.)--Harvard University, 2023.
Includes bibliographical references
This dissertation studies questions in finance and macroeconomics. The first chapter examines how competition among financial regulators affects financial stability and product pricing in the US life insurance industry. The second chapter, coauthored with Spencer Kwon, studies how investors react to news and proposes a systematic predictor of under-and-overreaction to news based on a psychological theory of expectation formation. The third chapter, coauthored with Suproteem Sarkar, studies how firms and households form macroeconomic expectations and how these expectations in turn influence real investment, hiring, and consumption decisions.
