The influence of psychology and theology is a beautiful collaboration, especially when both approaches are intentionally combined to produce therapeutic results for the client. Entwistle (2015) believes that psychology and theology are separate disciplines. However, several models run parallel, with the two comparatively similar in offering redemption and mental freedom. The effects of a Christian integrative model for a couple workshop to reduce stress offers several prominent and modern approaches to assist relationships that tend to lead to stress. One of the primary ways proven to work for couples as a preventative approach is mindfulness. Researchers have expressed an interest in using mindfulness to reduce relationship stress (Gillespie et al., 2015). This researcher explores peer-reviewed literature, using the research as a guide, to help couples manage relational stress effectively. The REIGN workshop design focuses on implementing a Christian Integrative approach such as the Grace Relational Restorative model by Sells & Yarhouse (2011), a Hope-Focused approach by Ripley & Worthington (2014), and other alternative Christian models that align with mindful meditation practices also established by Ripley & Worthington (2014). The research will prove that it is essential to integrate Christianity in counseling to reduce unnecessary stressors in marital relationships. This dissertation aims to highlight mindful meditation as an effective intervention for couples by applying it as a Christian integrative approach to reduce stress.
