[electronic resource] /edited by Érico Esteves Duarte. - 1st ed. 2021. - XIII, 221 p. 4 illus.online resource.
1.Introduction -- 2.Combat Experiences of the Argentine Army Campaign Artillery in the Falklands/Malvinas War -- 3.Between Coercive Diplomacy and Malvinas Fortress: Argentina’s Maritime Operations in the Falklands -- 4.Falklands/Malvinas’ Air Warfare and its Consequences: A Critical Geopolitical Approach -- 5.The Silence after Defeat: The Apostadero Naval Malvinas Veterans in the Early Post-War -- 6.South Atlantic Lessons: Falklands/Malvinas War and the Brazilian Army -- 7.The Falklands/Malvinas War and the Brazilian Naval Strategy: Autonomy for a Blue-Water Navy -- 8.Argentine Strategies towards the Falklands/Malvinas since the Democratic Transition, 1983-2018.
This book explores the Falklands War from an Argentinian perspective, taking into consideration three aspects. First, it introduces classified documents after the end of the thirty-year ban. Second, it highlights various conceptual, institutional, and doctrinal reforms in the Argentinian and other South American armed forces as a result of lessons learned from the Malvinas War. Third, it reflects on the war's long-term implications on Argentina’s foreign policy and society. The book offers the first comprehensive, multi-level analysis, and Argentinian scholarship on the conflict. It is based on original primary data, mainly official documentation and interviews with military officers and combatants. Érico Esteves Duarte is Professor of Strategic Studies and International Relations at the Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil. He previously held visiting fellow positions in the Institute for International Relations of Mozambique (2016), Corbett Centre for Maritime Policy Studies of the King’s College at Shrivenham (2016), Institute for Peace Studies and Security Policy at Hamburg University (2015), and the 2013 Rui Barbosa Chair at the University of Leiden.
