Ethics, Morality and Business: The Development of Modern Economic Systems, Volume II
Modern Civilizations /[electronic resource] :by Dipak Basu, Victoria Miroshnik. - 1st ed. 2021. - XI, 201 p. 2 illus., 1 illus. in color.online resource.
1. Ethics of Management -- 2. Ethics of Capitalism -- 3. Ethics of Marxism -- 4. Business ethics and ethical leadership -- 5. Japanese management system -- 6. Scandinavian and Yugoslav management system.
This book, the second of two volumes, is inspired by the famous philosopher of India, Kautilya, author of the first book on economics in the world, Arthashashtra. It analyzes the influence of ethical values from ancient societies on modern systems of management and economics. While this book deals with the “global sages” like Aristotle, Buddha, Jesus, the scope is also expanded to incorporate other notable modern thinkers like Karl Marx, Adam Smith, and Rabindranath Tagore. This book aims to highlight the interrelationships between ethics and management, both from a micro and macroeconomics, as well as organizational and national, perspective. It will be useful for those interested in history, economics, development studies, international relations, and global politics. Dipak R. Basu is the Emeritus Professor in Economics at Nagasaki University, Japan. He obtained a PhD from the University of Birmingham, England. Previously, he was a Research Officer at the Department of Applied Economics, University of Cambridge and a Lecturer in Econometrics at the Institute of Agricultural Economics, University of Oxford. Victoria W. Miroshnik is the Professor in Management at Reitaku University, Japan. She obtained a PhD from the University of Glasgow, Scotland. Previously, she was Professor at Jindal Global University, New Delhi, and Associate Professor at Tsukuba University, Tokyo and Ritsumeikan Asia Pacific University, Beppu, Japan.
