Research shows that social media use (SMU) has the potential to result in positive or negative outcomes for adolescents depending on how they engage with it and what predispositions they have. In order to leverage these positive outcomes, adolescents must be empowered to have a new perspective on their relationship with social media. Central to this new perspective are the concepts of agency and choice. The core processes of Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) are aligned with these aims and can be applied to the realm of SMU and tailored for adolescents. This dissertation presents an ACT-based intervention for social media well-being for adolescents. The adapted core processes from the DNA-V model, an ACT and positive psychology therapy framework for adolescents, is integrated into the ACT Choice-Point Model, a moment in time when it is possible to choose bet3ween values consistent and values inconsistent behavior, establishing a simple, functional, accessible, and strengths-based intervention that supports social media well-being.
