The purpose of this research is to analyze the impact of cyber-attacks on the Emergency Services Sector, in order to identify countermeasures that would help mitigate and protect against future attacks. The research examined the sector's current state and provided contextual information on the evolution, importance, resources and operations, and the roles and responsibilities of each of the distinct disciplines within the Emergency Services Sector. This research was intended to provide insight into the risks, threats, vulnerabilities, and impacts a cyber-attack would have on the Emergency Services Sector and on each of the critical infrastructure sectors that are interdependent and dependent on the Emergency Services Sector. This research identified several areas that need to be addressed such as creating and implementing an emergency response plan for each discipline within the sector, government response to cyber-attacks; and researching threats to systems, networks, and assets as countermeasures that will assist in responding to, mitigating and protecting against cyber-attacks.
