The purpose of this quantitative replication study was to determine the extent of the relationship between authentic leadership and transformational leadership as perceived by a sample of female leaders from the National Association of Professional Women (NAPW) as measured by the Authentic Leadership Questionnaire (ALQ) and the Multifactor Leadership Questionnaire (MLQ 5X). The relationship that exists between authentic leadership and transformational leadership in these female leaders was compared to the relationship between authentic leadership and laissez-faire leadership as measured by the MLQ 5X for internal validity. A significant positive relationship between authentic leadership and transformational leadership was determined. The relationship between authentic leadership and transformational leadership was found to be stronger than the relationship between authentic leadership and laissez-faire leadership. A second purpose was to determine the moderating impact of leader role/ responsibility and cognitive agility, measured by the Strategic Thinking Questionnaire (STQ), on the relationship between authentic leadership and transformational leadership in a sample of female leaders from the NAPW. The role/responsibility variables did not have a significant moderating effect on the relationship between transformational leadership and authentic leadership. Cognitive agility had a significant moderating effect on the relationship between transformational leadership and authentic leadership, with transformational leadership as the dependent variable. Similar results were found across all research questions in this study with a sample of female leaders from the NAPW and Brennan's (2010) study with male National Eagle Scout Association (NESA) leaders.
