Increasing attrition rates affect the quantity and quality of teacher human capital worldwide and pose threats to classroom practice and student learning outcomes. Understanding of these effects will be advanced by studying the reasons why preservice teachers leave or remain in the teaching profession. Literature indicates a range of influential factors contributing to preservice teachers' decisions to teach and vary across cultural contexts, particularly in studies using the FIT-Choice model. The policy and research context in Vietnam make it a fertile environment to examine motivational factors and differences influencing preservice teachers' perseverance within the teaching field. Most prior applicable studies employed either quantitative or qualitative approaches, thus limiting an integrated comprehensive picture. In contrast, this study employs an explanatory sequential mixed method design to identify different decisions made by preservice teachers approaching graduation, influential factors shaping their decisions, and how socio-cultural factors may differently impact sub-groups of participants. As few prior studies address the problem of preservice teacher attrition, this study adds to the current literature and should help policy makers and teacher trainers better support and prepare preservice teachers for their teaching career.

520 $a Tỷ lệ giao vien nghỉ việc ngay cang tang ảnh huởng dến số luợng va chất luợng nguồn nhan lực của giao vien tren toan thế giới va co ảnh huởng tieu cực dến chất luợng dạy học va kết quả học tập của học sinh. Sự hiểu biết về những tac dộng nay sẽ duợc nang cao thong qua kết quả nghien cứu ly do tại sao sinh vien su phạm rời bỏ hoặc ở lại với nghề dạy học. Cac nghien cứu truớc kia da chỉ ra một loạt cac yếu tố gop phần ảnh huởng dến quyết dịnh theo nghề của sinh vien giao vien su phạm truớc khi tham gia chuong trinh dao tạo va tac dộng khac nhau của cac yếu tố trong cac bối cảnh van hoa khac nhau, dặc biệt la trong cac nghien cứu sử dụng mo hinh FIT-Choice. Bối cảnh chinh sach va nghien cứu ở Việt Nam tạo ra moi truờng thuận lợi dể xem xet cac yếu tố thuc dẩy va sự khac biệt ảnh huởng dến sự kien tri của sinh vien su phạm với nghề giao. Hầu hết cac nghien cứu truớc day sử dụng phuong phap tiếp cận dịnh luợng hoặc dịnh tinh, do do hạn chế khả nang thấy duợc bức tranh tổng thể toan diện. Nguợc lại, nghien cứu nay sử dụng phuong phap hỗn hợp tuần tự giải thich dể xac dịnh cac quyết dịnh khac nhau của sinh vien su phạm truớc khi tốt nghiệp, cac yếu tố ảnh huởng dến quyết dịnh của họ va cach cac yếu tố van hoa xa hội co thể tac dộng khac nhau dến cac nhom nguời tham gia. Với số luợng hạn chế cac nghien cứu truớc day về vấn dề sinh vien su phạm bỏ nghề hoặc khong hoan thanh khoa học, nghien cứu nay gop phần bổ sung them thong tin hiện tại va sẽ giup cac nha hoạch dịnh chinh sach va nguời dao tạo giao vien hỗ trợ va chuẩn bị tốt hon cho sinh vien su phạm truớc khi vao nghề.
