This study examined the interactions of team member psychological capital and years of work experience on team cohesion and team effectiveness. There is limited information on psychological capital and its relationship to team and organizational outcomes, and there have been no studies that link psychological capital (high and low) and years of work experience with team cohesion and team effectiveness. The goal of this nonexperimental quantitative study was to answer three research questions pertaining to the measurement of the mean differences between the independent variables (psychological capital and work experience) and dependent variables (team cohesion and team effectiveness). These three questions were addressed: (a) When the variable of work experience is held constant, will there be statistically significant differences in average linear variate score for team cohesion and team effectiveness for levels in psychological capital? (b) When the variable of psychological capital is held constant, will there be statistically significant differences in the average linear variate score for team cohesion and team effectiveness for the levels of work experience? (c) Will there be statistically significant differences in the average linear variate score for team cohesion and team effectiveness due to psychological capital and work experience? The target population consisted of 45 individuals who were currently or within the last 3 months had worked with a team of three members or more. A nonprobability purposive sampling survey method was employed to collect data from team members by using Qualtrics. A two-way factorial multivariate analysis of variance was conducted to analyze the interactions between psychological capital, work experience, team cohesion, and team effectiveness. The results determined that there were significant differences in team cohesion and team effectiveness related to team member psychological capital. However, there were no significant differences in team cohesion and team effectiveness related to work experience or both psychological capital and work experience together. The findings of this study may provide information that can enable leaders to effectively assemble individuals in teams based on their psychological capital scores. Such actions would allow for the promotion of successful outcomes for the individual and the team.
