Purpose: The aim of this study was in vitro comparison of the effect of cement type (self adhesive resin cement, self etch resin cement) and surface treatments (tribochemical silica coating, air borne particle abrasion) on the retention of hybrid-ceramic CAD/CAM endocrowns. Materials and methods: Lower first molar teeth of nearly similar dimensions were selected, The intact crowns were removed by a horizontal section 1 mm above the CEJ. Obturation of the canals was performed to the orifice level. The anatomy of the occlusal surface and the thickness of their endocrown restorations was standardized by the Cerec in Lab CAD/CAM system, The specimens were classified into four groups according to the surface treatment of the endocrowns, and cementation technique. Group TSSA: Fitting surface of endocrowns was surface treateted with tribochemical silica coating (30-μm CoJet system), The crowns were cemented with dual cure self adhesive cement (G-CEM LinkAce), Group AA-SA: Air-borne particle abraision, dual cure self adhesive cement (G-CEM LinkAce), Group TS-SE: Tribochemical silica coating (30-μm CoJet system), dual cure adhesive resin cement (Calibra esthetic resin cement) and self etch adhesive (Bond Force), Group AA-SE: Air-borne paeticle abraision, dual cure adhesive resin cement (Calibra esthetic resin cement) and self etch adhesive (Bond Force). Retention test was performed at a cross-head speed of 0.5 mm/min until bond failure occurred. Results: The mean retention values for group TS-SA, AA-SA, TS-SE and AA-SE were 390 N, 320 N, 290 N and 280 N respectively. Clinical significance: Treating the surface of the tested hybrid ceramic endocrowns with co jet system followed by cementation with self adhesive resin cement resulted in the highest retention compared with other treatments.
