This study examined the relationship between the independent variables of Emotional Intelligence and physical activity, and the dependent variable, Authentic Leadership; while controlling for age, gender, education, experience, and organization type. Specifically, the independent variables analyzed included total Emotional Intelligence and the Emotional Intelligence components of Managing Own Emotions, Managing Others' Emotions, Perception of Emotions, and Utilization of Emotions; physical activity; and the control variables as listed above. The dependent variables were total Authentic Leadership and the Authentic Leadership subscales of Self-awareness, Balanced Processing, Relational Transparency, and Ethical / Moral Conduct. The study provided a demographic survey, Schutte Self-report Emotional Intelligence Test, International Physical Activity Questionnaire, and Authentic Leadership Questionnaire to 281 participants. The researcher employed a Pearson Product Moment Correlation analysis to identify bi-variate correlations amongst the continuous variables. The researcher also conducted a Multiple Linear Regression analysis to identify the strength and direction of the relationship for significant independent variables predictive of the dependent variables. Significance was found in both the Pearson Product Moment Correlation analysis and the multiple regression analysis. For the multiple regression analysis, the control variable of experience, as well as the Emotional Intelligence components of Managing Own Emotions and Managing Others' Emotions, were predictive of all four Authentic Leadership subscales. The control variable, organization, was predictive of Balanced Processing and Moral / Ethical Conduct. The regression models showed physical activity to have a negative relationship to Balanced Processing and Moral / Ethical Conduct.
