Improving Biogas Production
Technological Challenges, Alternative Sources, Future Developments /[electronic resource] :edited by Helen Treichel, Gislaine Fongaro. - 1st ed. 2019. - IX, 304 p.online resource. - Biofuel and Biorefinery Technologies,92363-7609 ;. - Biofuel and Biorefinery Technologies,2.
Waste biomass and blended bioresources in biogas production -- Physical, chemical and biological substrate pretreatments to enhance biogas yield -- Enzyme mediated enhanced biogas yield -- Improved methanogenic communities for biogas production -- Co-digestion of animal manure and carcasses to increase biogas generation -- Coupling syntrophic acetate oxidation and anaerobic ammonium oxidation when treating nitrogen-rich organic wastes for energy recovery and nitrogen removal: overview and prospects -- Two stage process to enhance Bio-hydrogen production -- Impact of antibiotics on biogas production -- Effect of Short-Chain Fatty Acid production on Biogas Generation -- Positive impact of Biogas chain on GHG reduction -- Digester slurry management and use on One Health concept -- Microbial Risk Assessment on the Biogas Production Chain -- Current efforts for the production and use of biogas around the world -- An overview about of limitations and avenues to improve biogas production and yield.
This book highlights the current limitations of biogas production and yield and new avenues to improving them. Biogas production and yield are among the most important renewable energy targets for our world. Pursuing an innovative and biotechnological approach, the book presents alternative sources for biogas production and explores a broad range of aspects, including: pre-treatment of substrates, accelerators (enzyme-mediated) and inhibitors involved in the process of obtaining biogas and its yield, design specifications for digesters/modified digesters, managing biogas plants, microbial risk and slurry management, energy balance and positive climatic impacts of the biogas production chain, and the impacts on Human, Animal and Environmental Health (“One Health” concept for the biogas chain).
