Recent Advancements on Expansive Soils
Proceedings of the 2nd GeoMEast International Congress and Exhibition on Sustainable Civil Infrastructures, Egypt 2018 – The Official International Congress of the Soil-Structure Interaction Group in Egypt (SSIGE) /[electronic resource] :edited by John S. McCartney, Laureano R. Hoyos. - 1st ed. 2019. - XVI, 189 p. 98 illus., 48 illus. in color.online resource. - Sustainable Civil Infrastructures,2366-3405. - Sustainable Civil Infrastructures,.
Developing an experimental strategy to investigate stress-strain models using kaolin -- Explicit Model for Excess Porewater Pressure Computation in Fine-Grained Soils with Arbitrary Initial Conditions -- A comprehensive approach to determine intrinsic compressibility of reconstituted clays with various initial water contents -- Experimental Study on Distributed Optical Fiber Sensor Based on BOTDR in the Model Tests of Expansive Soil Slope Protected by HPTRM -- Combined Effects of Bottom Ash and Lime on Behaviour of Expansive Soil -- Experimental Investigation on the Compaction and Compressible Properties of Expansive Soil Reinforced with Bagasse Fibre and Lime -- Effect of chemical composition of woodash and lime on stabilization of expansive soil -- Enhancement of Expansive Soil Properties using Cement Kiln Dust Mixed with Lime -- Stabilization of expansive soil with Corex slag and lime for road subgrade -- Monitoring the efficiency of polyurethane resin injection for foundation remediation in damaged residential buildings exposed to expansive clays -- The effect of environmental factors on the stability of residential buildings built on expansive clays -- Generalised Analysis of Under-Reamed Pile Subjected to An-isotropic Swelling Pressure -- Mechanical and Hydraulic Properties of Bentonite Clay Stabilized with Cement, Lime, and Mixed Lime-Cement by Dry and Wet Methods after 5 Years of Curing -- Effect of sulfate contamination on compaction and strength behavior of lime treated expansive soil -- A Proposed Approach for Calculating Collapse Settlement.
This volume includes a collection of technical papers on an important topic in geotechnical engineering; the behavior and treatment of expansive soils. The research studies include investigations into novel stabilization techniques for expansive soils using different admixtures or mechanical consolidation techniques, as well as new experimental approaches to evaluate the behavior of expansive soils. They also include an evaluation of wetting boundary conditions on the volume change of expansive soils, as well as the role of hydrologic boundary conditions in arid climates. The volume is based on the best contributions to the 2nd GeoMEast International Congress and Exhibition on Sustainable Civil Infrastructures, Egypt 2018 – The official international congress of the Soil-Structure Interaction Group in Egypt (SSIGE).
