Grundlagen der Photokatalyse, Screening als Methodik zur Reaktionsentwicklung -- Kombination von mechanismus- und reaktionsbasiertem Screening -- Silylketenacetale und Silylenolether als reduktive Quencher.
Im Gegensatz zur Entwicklung chemischer Reaktionen durch verständnisbasiertes, rationales Design stellen Screeningmethoden eine komplementäre Herangehensweise dar. Felix Strieth-Kalthoff koppelt zwei Screeningkonzepte – Lumineszenzquenching (mechanismusbasiert) und kombinatorische Chemie (reaktionsbasiert) – synergistisch, um die Entdeckung neuartiger oder unerwarteter Reaktivität zu forcieren. Als Modellsystem hierfür wählt der Autor die Photokatalyse mit sichtbarem Licht, die sich im letzten Jahrzehnt zu einem bedeutenden synthetischen Werkzeug entwickelt hat. Zwei so entdeckte Reaktionen werden exemplarisch optimiert und mittels synthetischer sowie mechanistischer Studien im Detail untersucht. Die detailliert verstandenen Umsetzungen dienen als Grundlage für weiteres rationales Design und aufbauende Entwicklungen.
