Basierend auf langjährige experimentelle Erfahrungen werden elementare physikalische Ansätze verwendet. Damit lassen sich die Zusammenhänge der Pkw-Klimatisierung transparent darstellen. Beschrieben werden typische Betriebsarten eines Pkw im Winter und Sommer. Hierzu ist auch ein Kapitel der Klimaphysiologie gewidmet. Ausführliche Beispiele dienen zur Vertiefung der gelesenen Kapitel. Mathematisch aufwändige Berechnungen und Tabellen sind im Anhang zusammengestellt. Der Autor Dipl.-Ing. Holger Großmann studierte Maschinenwesen an der Technischen Universität in München. Danach (1972) wechselte er in die Technische Entwicklung der AUDI AG in Ingolstadt. Dort arbeitete er überwiegend an Themen der Pkw-Klimatisierung, Außenaerodynamik und Aggregatekühlung. Auch nach seinem Ruhestand (2008) ist er auf diesen Fachgebieten als Buchautor, Seminarleiter, Referent und Moderator von Fachkongressen aktiv. Der Co-Autor Dr.-Ing. Christof Böttcher promovierte (2006) im Rahmen des Doktorandenprogrammes der Volkswagen AG am Institut für Thermodynamik der TU Braunschweig. Seit dieser Zeit ist er Mitarbeiter des VW-Konzerns. Zunächst übernahm er in der Konzernforschung Aufgaben der Pkw-Klimatisierung, leitete später das Technologie-Scouting für Elektrik/Elektronik in Tokio (Japan) und verantwortet gegenwärtig die Bauteilentwicklung von Komponenten der Klimaelektronik der Marke Volkswagen.
