"Intelligent transportation systems (ITS) are advanced applications which use a variety of technologies to provide innovative services relating to different modes of transport and traffic management, enabling safer, more coordinated and 'smarter' use of transport networks. Topics covered include computational technologies, floating car data/floating cellular data, sensing technologies, and video vehicle detection; and related theoretic and applied technologies include emergency vehicle notification systems, automatic road enforcement, collision avoidance systems and some cooperative systems.
