Microentrepreneurship in a Developing Country
Evidence for Public Policy /[electronic resource] :by Jagannadha Pawan Tamvada. - 1st ed. 2021. - XVI, 131 p. 29 illus., 10 illus. in color.online resource.
Chapter 1: Microentrepreneurship: An Interdisciplinary View -- Chapter 2: The Spatial Distribution of Self-employment -- Chapter 3: Economic Returns to Occupational Choice -- Chapter 4: Size of New Start-Ups Across Space -- Chapter 5: Firm growth and barriers to growth among small firms in India -- Chapter 6: Conclusion: The Dual Theory. .
This book examines the nexus between the entrepreneur, the firm, and the region for drawing a comprehensive picture of entrepreneurship in a developing country context. It emphasizes the role of the spatial location in simultaneously determining the occupational choice at an individual level and the nature of new firm start-ups emerging in a region. In doing so, the author provides a novel approach to examining entrepreneurship in emerging economies. Using large-scale databases from India, the book offers fresh insights for shaping public policy in developing countries that aim to pursue entrepreneurship led growth. Dr Jagannadha Pawan Tamvada is Associate Professor at the University of Southampton Business School and co-founder of iPowerz, a global digital platform for fast-tracking microentrepreneurship and small business growth. For his research on entrepreneurship in developing countries, he was awarded the inaugural best dissertation award of the Danish Research Unit for Industrial Dynamics (DRUID) and the Otto Hahn Medal of the Max Planck Society.
