Ways Out Of Social Isolation For Older People In The Context Of New Media
CONNECT-ED – A Project to Improve Social Participation /[electronic resource] :by Britta Thege, Juliane Köchling-Farahwaran, Sonja Börm, Stephan Dettmers. - 1st ed. 2021. - XIV, 127 p. 35 illus.online resource.
Social isolation and digital exclusion in old age -- Increased social participation through media skills -- Effectiveness of the innovative CONNECT-ED encounter concept in work with the elderly -- Types of learning in the geragogical setting -- Significance of difference categories for educational offers in work with the elderly -- Geragogical perspectives.
The book introduces the concept of encounter CONNECT-ED from the practice of working with the elderly to impart media skills and presents empirical data on the social participation and quality of life of the participants. The research results show the potential of the Internet for older people and open up perspectives for gender- and age-sensitive advanced training opportunities. This book is a translation of the original German 1st edition Wege aus sozialer Isolation für ältere Menschen im Kontext Neuer Medien by Britta Thege, published by Springer Fachmedien Wiesbaden GmbH, part of Springer Nature in 2021. The translation was done with the help of artificial intelligence (machine translation by the service DeepL.com). A subsequent human revision was done primarily in terms of content, so that the book will read stylistically differently from a conventional translation. Springer Nature works continuously to further the development of tools for the production of books and on the related technologies to support the authors. The Authors Dr. Britta Thege, sociologist and scientific manager of the Institute for Interdisciplinary Gender Research and Diversity, adjunct professor at the Department of Social Work and Health, Dr. Juliane Köchling-Farahwaran, senior researcher at the Institute for Interdisciplinary Gender Research and Diversity, Sonja Börm, lecturer in the Department of Social Work and Health, Dr. Stephan Dettmers, professor at the Department of Social Work and Health with a focus on clinical social work, qualitative network analyses and social diagnostics, Kiel University of Applied Sciences.
