Pharmacokinetics and Pharmacodynamics of Nanoparticulate Drug Delivery Systems
[electronic resource] /edited by Jayvadan K. Patel, Yashwant V. Pathak. - 1st ed. 2022. - XIII, 438 p. 102 illus., 84 illus. in color.online resource.
Part 1-Modelling of PK/PD for NPDDS -- Introduction to Nanoparticulate Drug Delivery Systems -- Nanoparticle Properties Affecting Pharmacokinetics of NPDDS -- Models Used for Biopharmaceutical Evaluation of NPDDS -- Models Used in the Pharmacokinetic Evaluation of NPDDS -- Models Used in the Pharmacodynamic Evaluation of NPDDS -- Preclinical Animal Models For Experimental Design of Pharmacokinetic Studies of NPDDS -- Pharmacokinetic Modelling Program (PKMP) -- Part 2-PK/PD for Specific Nanocarriers -- Pharmacokinetic and Pharmacodynamics of Liposomal Nanoparticles -- Pharmacokinetics of Polymer Matrix Drugs (NPDDS) -- Pharmacokinetics of Long-Circulating NPDDS -- Metallic Gold Nanoparticles in vivo Pharmacokinetics and X-ray Contrast imaging Studies -- Muco-adhesive NPDDS In Vitro and Pharmacokinetics Studies -- Pharmacokinetic and Tissue Distribution Study of Solid Lipid Nanoparticles -- Factors Affecting the Clearance and Biodistribution of Polymeric Nanoparticles -- PKPD of PLGA-PEG-PLGA Triblock CoPolymeric Micelles -- Part 3-PKPD in Diseased Conditions for NPDDS -- Bridging Bio-Nanoscience and Cancer Nanomedicine -- Clearance Pathways and Tumor Targeting of Imaging Nanoparticles for Diagnostics -- PLGA Nanoparticles for Oral Delivery-Nephrotoxicity and Pharmacokinetic Studies -- Pharmacokinetics of Nanoparticle Systems for Pulmonary Delivery -- In vivo Biodistribution and Pharmacokinetic Studies of NPDDS for Brain Targeting -- Enhanced Bioavailability and Intestinal Uptake Nanoparticles After Oral Delivery -- Nanoparticle Pharmacokinetic Profiling In Vivo Using Magnetic Resonance Imaging.
A reference is needed that addresses the recent progress in aspects of PK/PD methods and developments of nanoparticles for novel drug delivery systems. No other consolidated published reference discusses the PK/PD study of nanoparticle drug delivery systems. This book discusses the advantages of nanoparticle drug delivery systems (NPDDS) in enhancing the pharmacokinetics of many drugs that are not easily metabolized or that obtain the desired therapeutic effect with minimum toxicity. The authors provide an overview of biodistribution with a focus on polymer and lipid nanoparticles. This thorough reference is divided into three parts: Modelling, Specific carries and their potential to treat specific diseases.
