The field of art therapy utilizes differences between art materials in theory, practice and research. Although digital media is ubiquitous, has unique benefits and is popular with client population there has not been significant research regarding incorporating digital media into therapy. The bodymind model proposes the use of psychophysiological indices to gage the effects of art therapy. In this study we compared bodymind metrics (measures of heart rate variability indicative of parasympathetic and sympathetic nervous system activity, salivary cortisol and state stress) of participants that used either oil pastels or tablets to draw after a group version of the sing a song stress test stress induction (SSST-G). In addition, we compared the art made with tablets and oil pastels using the formal elements of art therapy coding system (FEATS) and tallied use of unique digital functions such as undo or erase on tablets.Results indicated that both oil pastels and tablets were successful at facilitating participant's self-regulation during art making. SSST-G had a significant, stressful, effect on autonomic nervous system measures while art making facilitated a return to baseline. There were significant correlations between enjoyment and flow during art making and nervous system activity. The reports oil pastel users made about their experience making art had strong correlations with nervous system activity, but not those that tablet users made indicating at potential mediating factors. There was a strong negative correlation between the amount of times the erase and undo functions were used on a tablet and the participant's enjoyment, flow and stress level reported after drawing. More erasing and undoing was correlated with higher stress, less flow, less enjoyment during painting and less satisfaction from the medium. FEATS scores were compared between the two mediums as a qualitative measure indicating at possible distinctions in color prominence, energy, space, and the overt expression of emotional content. Although there were no significant differences in scores it appears that art made on tablets had a distinct style that is different from traditional media. In this study we found digital art making highly suitable for art therapy but with unique capabilities that require therapist's attention and thoughtfulness.

520 $a תחום הטיפול באמנות עושה שימוש בהבדלים בין חומרי אמנות בתיאוריה, בפועל ובמחקר. על אף שמדיה דיגיטלית נמצאת כיום בכל מקום, בעלת יתרונות ייחודיים ופופולרית בקרב אוכלוסיית הלקוחות, לא נערך מחקר משמעותי בנושא שילוב מדיה דיגיטלית בטיפול. מודל הגוף- נפש )model Bodymind )מציע להשתמש במדדים פסיכו-פיזיולוגיים לבחינת השפעות הטיפול באמנות. במחקר זה השווינו מדדי גוף-נפש )מדדים של שונות קצב לב המייצגים פעילות של מערכת העצבים הסימפטית והפרה סימפטית, קורטיזול ברוק ומצבי לחץ( של המשתתפים שהשתמשו בצבעי פנדה או בטאבלטים בכדי לצייר לאחר השראת דחק קבוצתית - test stress song a sing (G-SSST .(בנוסף השווינו את האומנות שנוצרה על גבי טאבלטים ועם פסטל שמן באמצעות האלמנטים הרשמיים של טיפול באומנות )FEATS )כשיטת ניקוד וספרנו את כמות הפעמים שנבדקת מחקה או ביטלה פעולה בעת ציור על גבי טאבלת.התוצאות מצביעות על כך שגם צבעי פנדה וגם ציור על גבי טאבלטים הצליחו לאפשר את הוויסות העצמי של המשתתפים במהלך יצירת האמנות. ל-G-SSST הייתה השפעה מובהקת, מלחיצה, על מדדי מערכת העצבים האוטונומית. בזמן היצירה הייתה הקלה בלחץ וחזרה למדדי הבסיס. היו קשרים משמעותיים בין הנאה מחוויית היצירה ותחושת הזרימה )Flow )במהלך יצירת האמנות ומדדי מערכת העצבים )קצב הלב(, במיוחד עבור החומרים המסורתיים. הדיווחים של הנבדקות שהשתמשו בפסטל שמן היו במתאם גבוה במיוחד עם מדדי מערכת העצבים, אך לא אלו של הנבדקות שהשתמשו בטאבלטים, דבר המעיד על גורמים מתערבים פוטנציאליים. השימוש במחיקה וביטול-פעולה במדיום הדיגיטלי היה במתאם שלילי משמעותי להנאה מתהליך היצירה, זרימה והפחתת מתח. יותר מחיקה וביטול פעולה היו במתאם ליותר מתח, פחות זרימה, פחות הנאה בעת הציור ופחות סיפוק מהמדיום האומנותי. השוואת אלמנטים רשמיים של טיפול באומנות )FEATS )בין שני המדיומים הצביעה על הבחנות אפשריות בין המדיומים בתחום של בולטות צבע, שימוש בשטח הדף, אנרגיה מושקעת ושימוש באלמנטים רגשיים. למרות של א היו הבדלים מובהקים בציוני ה-FEATS בין המדיומים נראה כי האומנות שיוצרה על גבי טאבלטים הייתה בעלת סגנון ייחודי השונה מסגנון המדיה המסורתית.
