Burnout is at the forefront of issues that impact retention rates of nurses. For healthcare organizations, voluntary turnover has several detrimental effects, including decreased productivity, knowledge and experience loss, high replacement costs, and ultimately poor patient outcomes. Burnout and turnover are influenced by several factors, such as stress, short staffing, decrease job satisfaction, dispute resolution methods, and employee expectations. This capstone examines the factors that lead to burnout and understaffing and offers a remedy-based model to address the issue. Addressing burnout among nurses is crucial for healthcare organizations as it directly impacts retention rates, a pivotal element in maintaining a skilled and experienced workforce. Adaption of the model is hindered by some barriers and resistance that will be examined with practical ways to overcome them. This study will thoroughly examine these challenges and offer practical strategies to overcome them, ensuring the effective implementation of the proposed model and, consequently, the mitigation of nurse burnout and turnover.
