Contributing to the debate on the impact of strategic orientation on competitive advantages, this study explores the importance of strategic orientation in Jordanian commercial banks. To achieve the goals of this study, the researcher relied on two types of data; data obtained through questionnaire as a tool to measure the impact of strategic orientations on the competitive advantages of Jordanian commercial banks, and data obtained through library sources and reviews of studies related to the subject of the study.The study concludes that strategic orientation, irrespective of its dimensions, plays an impactful role in enhancing competitive advantages. Therefore, commercial banks in Jordan must adopt a variety of dimensions of strategic orientation, topped by the Strategic Orientation on Technology, followed by Defensive Strategic Orientation, and Analytical Strategic Orientation. However, banks must pay more attention to the need of using strategic orientations, whether individually or collectively, because of the large and important role they play in the sustainability, stability and development of Jordanian companies in the market, especially in light of the intense competition they face.Strategic orientation and its dimensions, as the study finds, are highly present at Jordanian commercial banks, which indicates that the senior managements of Jordanian commercial banks are aware of the importance of strategic orientations and their ability to help realize the strategic goals of banks as they pursue excellence in administrative operations.
