There is a need to gain a better understanding of the workplace writing transfer successes and challenges of African American male students who attend historically Black colleges and universities. To gain a better understanding of this situation, I conducted a nested, cross-case analysis case study with three African American males who recently graduated from the same historically Black university (HBU), and who are presently working in different careers. From my research I identified skills used by these men for workplace writing transfer, and I provide implications for teaching first-year composition and suggestions for further research in writing transfer scholarship.
