This research, a multiple qualitative case study, examined hypnotherapy utilized as a psycho-spiritual tool to facilitate transformation of insecure attachment through the original wounding from childhood. The purpose of this qualitative study was to investigate and interpret the experiences of individuals who had undergone age-regressive hypnotherapy, and discover the impact on attachment disorder. The process of age regression and reimaging was examined as a powerful therapeutic technique that was found to serve as a transformative methodology in the healing of a core emotional schema. In this multiple qualitative study, 3 participants who had experienced hypnotherapeutic age regression as a means of healing childhood trauma were chosen. Multiple data sources included transcripts from the interviews of primary participants, secondary participants, as well as transcripts from Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist and Hypnotherapist Cynthia Gamble. Case notes from each participant were also included in the 3 cases conducted. Participants wrote an autobiographical narrative of their childhood trauma, and journal entries from the intervention of age-regressive hypnotherapy were also included. The actual words of participants were utilized from the interview; additionally, feedback was provided from the participants regarding the interview wording. Study findings suggest the effectiveness of age-regressive hypnotherapy in all 3 cases, which indicated a significant psycho-spiritual and transformative impact in the form of symptom relief in emotional, psychological, and behavioral areas. It is clear by the protocol used in these 3 cases that there is a structure to this particular intervention that has been shown to be effective. This researcher recommends this protocol to support the psychological healing process in tandem with other psychological modalities, particularly if results from utilizing cognitive behavioral theory, medication, or longer insight therapy have not yielded the deeper transformational shifts.
