The purpose of this study was to analyze current commercial airline pilots on their perception of the role automation plays within the U.S. airline industry, as well as the possible ramifications of fully autonomous flight being integrated into the commercial aviation industry. Increasing advancements in automation technology has the potential to create significant upheaval across the entire industry. By taking an in-depth look at pilot opinion, we will determine the feasibility of this potential reality, and how both airline companies and pilots will adapt.
