This study uses thematic analysis to explore how cross-sectoral, beneficiary-engaged network partners in Michigan perceive and experience social value creation practices through a qualitative exploratory multiple case study. Interviews were conducted with 23 participants from private, public, non-profit, and engaged beneficiary groups, forming distinct case studies. The study also utilized archival records and artifacts for data collection. The four stakeholder groups represent collaborators within a connected network, and an additional case study amalgamates these groups. The research sheds light on diverse perspectives within this collaborative network, contributing to understanding social value creation. Findings provide perspectives into personal experiences, organizational values, and collaboration dynamics. Collaborations with the private sector are seen as opportunities for innovation and resource access, though motivations might be questioned. Despite bureaucratic challenges, engagement with the public sector offers the potential for policy influence and community advocacy. Beneficiary engagement enhances collaborations with insights into impact and empowerment, reinforcing trust. Balancing differing motivations in these sectors is complex. Collaborations provide valuable learning experiences and exposure to diverse approaches, contributing to a holistic understanding of the social landscape. Organizational differences add complexity, but collaborations amplify social impact, promote sustainability, and facilitate networking. Perceptions vary due to context, collaboration effectiveness, and stakeholder alignment. Effective communication, clear goals, mutual respect, and commitment are crucial for nurturing positive perceptions and successful cross-sector collaborations.
