According to a 2022 statistical report regarding racial disproportionalities and disparities in the California Child Welfare System, African American and Native American youth are the most pronounced youth in care. This project was intended to target this group of young parents and provide them with educational information on Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR), Safely Surrendered and Post-Partum Depression through the use of technology. The procedure of this project is based on the collaboration of stakeholders, creating a video script, utilizing a video creation program, providing an online link for easy access to the video, and receiving feedback from viewers and stakeholders for input. This project developed an educational video that is free, everlasting, and accessible to those who utilize technology. The educational tool provides knowledge of a basic understanding of CPR instruction for infants, awareness of the Policy of Safely Surrendered (where to go and what symbol to look for when in need), and the symptoms and awareness of Post-Partum Depression. The graduate project was organized around a series of objectives whose completion was critical to the outcome. While not all objectives were achieved, the video was successfully produced, offering teen parents critical information, resources and support through the use of technology. Included are the experiences developing the video and implications for practice, policy and future research for the betterment of the social work field and the communities served.
