The purpose of this research project is to create a preventative measure to keep children and families from Stanislaus County out of the child welfare system. The preventative measure entails a workshop providing community resources to parents of elementary school aged children. The community resources include medical clinics that offer mental health services, local food banks that provide various degrees of food boxes to families, and substance use treatment facilities and what services they provide. The goal of providing this information is to decrease parental stress that could lead to the neglect of children. Thus, putting the children and families at risk of entering the child welfare system.
