Thesis (M.B.A.)--San Diego State University, 2024.
Includes bibliographical references
In an age dominated by consumerism, the concept of mindful consumption offers a pathway to align consumer behavior with timeless ethical principles. This thesis explores how Compassionate Artificial Intelligence (CAI) systems could potentially catalyze such alignment. Leveraging AI's data analytics and predictive modeling capabilities, CAI adds layers of emotional intelligence to support the holistic well-being of users. We explore how such technology may be used to foster congruent consumption experiences that align actions with values and improve long-term quality of life. The research focuses on the potential for CAI to transparently nudge consumers toward mindful lifestyles through real-time, context-sensitive prompts about the social, environmental, and intrapersonal implications of their actions. The analysis addresses key concerns regarding the integration of such technology, investigating how CAI may be ethically and responsibly engineered to skillfully guide consumer behavior in service of all.
