The problem is that there are factors and subfactors that impede women from achieving an executive level in their careers in the hotel hospitality industry. The purpose of this qualitative narrative research study was to investigate the two factors with the subfactors involved in each factor. The first factor is intersectionality with the subfactors of gender, race, and class. The second factor is discriminating practices with the subfactors of gender stereotypes, gender wage gap and credential differences between men and women. The research question for this study was, "What is the relationship between intersectionality factors and discriminating practices factors that inhibit female leaders from acquiring executive positions?" The qualitative research approach selected for this study uses a narrative research design. Implementing a qualitative research method with a narrative research design and approach establishes a stronger understanding of each participant's experiences. From the conducted semi-structured interviews, the results have presented the emergence of two themes and two sub-themes. The first theme to emerge was gender with two sub-themes of gender wage gap and gender stereotypes. The second theme to emerge was mentorship. Eleven female participants were interviewed and shared their encounters in their careers in the hotel hospitality industry. Ten of the participants was a mix of different level of leadership positions and a minimum of one female participant was a hotel owner.
