Split-selves is a difficult yet ultra-common condition. The author sees it as a common phenomenon that happens to everyone, and it can lead to confusion or conflicts within individuals. Despite this condition's prevalence, in psychology, emphasis remains on joining these selves into a singular whole. The design offers a means to record and acknowledge the split selves rather than force the integration into oneself. This thesis explores the nuanced landscape of intrapersonal communication between split selves through a personal journey marked by self-neglect but working towards self-acceptance. The author reflects on stress management, irregularities in self-care, and a sense of disconnection, using visual languages like journaling, photography, and film to bridge emotional gaps. This research aims to emphasize a transformative acceptance of different selves within an individual, including often overlooked "depressive" aspects. The goal aims to "hug" all selves, each of which plays a role in creating a singular but complex identity. It argues for the power of visual languages in enabling enhanced self-dialogue and how those idiosyncratic visual languages uniquely illustrate the complexity of intrapersonal communication. The ultimate aspiration is to facilitate the metaphorical transformative act of embracing all different parts of oneself.
