Psychosocial interventions have the ability to improve aspects of cognitive functioning along with reducing depressive and anxiety symptoms that are common in people with mild cognitive impairment (MCI). This study aimed to examine the effectiveness of the Vivante Innovative Collective (VIC), a multicomponent activities program at an assisted living and memory care community, in improving cognitive functioning, depression, and anxiety in older adults with suspected MCI as well as assess the feasibility of VIC. A mixed-methods, quasi-experimental, one group, pre-test/post-test design was utilized. The Saint Louis University Mental Status Exam, the Geriatric Depression Scale 15-item version, and the Geriatric Anxiety Scale were used to assess 12 participants before and after 8 weeks of participation in the program. A survey to collect feedback from the activity leaders and to document attendance rates each week was also used. There were non-significant changes in the participants' cognitive functioning, depression, and anxiety scores. The qualitative data gathered from the survey yielded additional information about VIC. The strengths of VIC included new engagement and structure for the participants, the activities, and new friendships. The limitations of VIC included recruitment, staffing, activity attendance, and engagement after VIC. The ideas for the future included additional VIC leaders, additional space, and family involvement. VIC is a new program at an assisted living and memory care community. The findings and recommendations from this study will be valuable to the staff members to help them better serve their residents with MCI.
