Residential architects may struggle to design dwellings accounting for more than mere physiological needs due to the complex nature of human beings. This scholarship of integration utilizes a meta-analysis of topics related to human-centered architectural design. A focus was placed on understanding visual perception to expand on ways architects could manipulate apertures and forms in the conceptual programming phases of design for increasing the likelihood of fulfilling occupant well-being. Key pieces of interdisciplinary research from fields such as psychology and neurology have been integrated and synthesized into the field of residential architecture. Connecting multiple disciplines informed a constellation of programming tools and methods for primarily residential architects to digest and deploy at their discretion.
