Although various investigations showed the effects of specific healthcare technologies on the overall healthcare system, limited studies analyzed the actual technology utilization among various ethnic groups. Thus, this research aimed to understand the exact granularity associated with utilizing these various healthcare technologies among race and ethnic groups. This study used a survey analysis of various ethnic groups across the Thomas Jefferson University campus. Results revealed racial/ethnic differences in utilization of health software applications (Google Fit, Apple Health, etc.), wearable devices (smartwatch, Fitbit, etc.), and online resources (WebMD, MyFitnessPal, etc.). The results showed various race/ethnic groups and their unique usage of digital health technologies. Because this study was conducted among a university-aged cohort, the metrics highlighted demographics in a higher-education population. A personal goal for the future is to take this research to various government officials involved in policy laws surrounding digital health.
