How are Japanese style management and production technologies diffused and localized at major Japanese overseas factories? How does it effect their performance and what is the impact on the local business environment and Japanese society? This book presents the findings of the Japanese Multinational Enterprise Study Group (JMNESG). Over a twenty year period, they have carried out research at more than four hundred Japanese automobile and electronics factories in North America, East and South Asia, China, Western Europe, and Central and Eastern Europe. The book presents the "Application- Adaption Hybrid" research and analytical framework as a means of measuring the degree to which Japanese parent systems are transferred to the subsidiary or affiliated plant. The book proposes this evaluation method as a global model for assessing the transferability of systems in any multinational enterprise.
