Preface -- Acknowledgements -- Biography -- Introduction -- Quantum information -- Quantum communications -- Quantum computing -- Quantum sensors -- Relativistic quantum information -- Summary
One of the major scientific thrusts in recent years has been to try to harness quantum phenomena to increase dramatically the performance of a wide variety of classical information processing devices. In particular, it is generally accepted that quantum computers and communication systems promise to revolutionize our information infrastructure.
Mode of access: World Wide Web.
Dr. Marco Lanzagorta is a Research Physicist at the US Naval Research Laboratory in Washington, DC. In addition, Dr Lanzagorta is Affiliate Associate Professor and Member of the Graduate Faculty at George Mason University, and co-editor of the Quantum Computing series of graduate lectures published by Morgan and Claypool. He is a recognized authority on the research and development of advanced information technologies and their application to combat and scientific systems. He has over 100 publications in the areas of physics and computer science, and he has authored the books Quantum Radar (2011) and Underwater Communications (2012). He received a doctorate degree in theoretical physics from Oxford University in the United Kingdom. In the past, Dr Lanzagorta was Technical Fellow and Director of the Quantum Technologies Group of ITT Exelis, and worked at the European Organization for Nuclear Research (CERN) in Switzerland, and at the International Centre for Theoretical Physics (ICTP) in Italy.
