A majority of Americans report valuing their religious lives but also express a dissatisfaction with that aspect of their lives. This dissatisfaction may be due, in part, to differences between God image and God concept. No resource currently exists that uses spiritual disciplines organized according to the psychological literature on God image and God concept designed for implementation in a church setting. The spiritual formation curriculum developed as a component of the dissertation was designed to provide Christian individuals with a group spiritual formation experience to bring greater congruence between God image and God concept to help alleviate the dissatisfaction around religious lives and to help individuals further tap into the numerous social, emotional, and physical benefits of religious involvement. Ten experts, 7 mental health professionals, and 7 religious leaders working within spiritual formation reviewed the curriculum and provided feedback about the curriculum via an evaluation form.
