This document attempts to address the rising issue of ransomware within the healthcare industry. Ransomware is an opportunistic type of malware that is designed to prevent access to an individual or an organization's system until an amount of money is paid. With the attacks of ransomware upon healthcare organizations increasing, organizations are in need of innovative ways to prevent such acts from occurring. This paper intends to view various ways to mitigate and decrease ransomware attacks by cyber criminals. Despite these threats, organizations also need to follow recommended best practices and establish a strong cyber security defense that aids in obtaining, containing, and distributing pertinent information.

520 $a Este documento intenta abordar la creciente cuestion de ransomware dentro de la industria de la salud. Ransomware es un tipo oportunista de malware que esta disenado para impedir el acceso a un individuo o al sistema de una organizacion hasta que se pague una cantidad de dinero. Con los ataques de ransomware sobre las organizaciones de salud cada vez mas, las organizaciones estan en la necesidad de formas innovadoras para evitar que ocurran tales actos. Este documento tiene la intencion de ver varias formas de mitigar y disminuir los ataques de ransomware por los ciberdelincuentes. A pesar de estas amenazas, las organizaciones tambien deben seguir las mejores practicas recomendadas y establecer una fuerte defensa de seguridad cibernetica que ayude a obtener, contener y distribuir informacion pertinente.
