With innovations in the field of artificial intelligence (AI) advancing at an exponential rate, it is ever the more pertinent to interrogate the ramifications and potentialities of these developments. Luciano Floridi, known as "the Google philosopher," considers this phenomenon an integral part of the digital information age or the "Fourth Revolution." We are now forced to confront the following problems: What is the relationship between humans and AI? What does it mean to be "human"? What futures are possible given our current coevolution with AI? Such questions motivate close philosophical consideration. Here, the theoretical polarization of the doomsday neo-Luddite versus the overzealous futurist unnecessarily constrains philosophical dialogue.

While employing a feminist methodological approach, I turn to two films, Jonze's Her & Garland's Ex Machina, to explore these questions. The conditions of possibility that allowed for these films to emerge, point toward a simultaneous critique of phallogocentrism and anthropocentrism. Several frameworks---primarily feminist, psychoanalytic, Deleuzoguattarian, & Heideggerian---are deployed in this dissertation. Using visual media as the lens through which to probe these issues, I investigate how technology (AI specifically) changes what we consider to be human, our affective relation to technology, and how we coevolve with technology.

Les innovations dans le domaine de l'intelligence artificielle (IA) evoluant a un rythme exponentiel, il est de plus en plus pertinent d'interroger les ramifications et les potentialites de ces evolutions. Luciano Floridi, surnomme "le philosophe de Google", considere ce phenomene comme une partie integrante de l'ere de l'information numerique ou de la "quatrieme revolution". Nous sommes maintenant obliges de faire face aux problemes suivants: Quelle est la relation entre les humains et l'IA? Qu'est-ce que cela signifie d'etre "humain"? Quels avenirs sont possibles compte tenu de notre coevolution actuelle avec l'IA? De telles questions motivent une consideration philosophique etroite. Ici, la polarisation theorique du neo-luddisme de la fin du monde contre le futuriste trop zele contraint inutilement le dialogue philosophique.

Tout en employant une approche methodologique feministe, je me tourne vers deux films, "Her" de Jonze et "Ex Machina" de Garland, pour explorer ces questions. Les conditions de possibilite qui ont permis l'emergence de ces films pointent vers une critique simultanee du phallogocentrisme et de l'anthropocentrisme. Plusieurs cadres - principalement feministe, psychanalytique, Deleuzoguattarian et Heideggerian - sont deployes dans cette these. En utilisant les medias visuels comme point de depart pour examiner ces problemes, j'etudie comment la technologie (en particulier l'IA) modifie ce que nous considerons comme humain, notre relation affective avec la technologie et comment nous evoluons avec la technologie.
