An experimental qualitative Cognitive Behavioral Eco-Art Therapy research study utilized an outdoor setting in an attempt to view effect on mood through an art therapy process. The hypothesis inquired whether young adults positively altered their mood through the application of art directives while being exposed to a natural setting. The findings were measured using the Nature-Relatedness Scale as well as the Ottawa Mood (OM) Scale to collaboratively search for analysis on emotion regulation. Demographic profile of participants consisted of 15 members living in the Bay Area community, whose ages ranged between 21 and 29 years old. Ten participants were completing a Master's level degree. Results found a natural environment successfully altered mood dysregulation and increased positive emotions. The Ottawa Mood Scale and Nature-Relatedness Scale were successful upon concluding to valid and reliable scores. The comparison of pre and post-test OM Scale recorded 13 out of the 15 members marks increased throughout the training. The Nature-Relatedness Scale found 11 out of the 15 volunteers had a closer connectivity to nature and an increase in scores upon completing the study. Results suggest the need for further research within the field to identify other symptoms that may see value in eco-art therapy practice.
