Outdoor recreation and education sites have become increasingly focused on learning about their visitors. Hypothetically, with an increased understanding of visitors, education and managerial strategies can more effectively connect with visitors. Because many factors can influence visitor experiences, it is useful to conduct site-specific visitor investigations. This research project was a site-specific visitor study at Beaver Lake Nature Center, a nature center located in Baldwinsville, New York. Visitor information (n=445) was collected primarily through on-site surveys over a nine-month period from March 2015 to November 2015. Results suggested interesting visitor trends such as low incidences of conflict, high overlap of user groups, clear program preferences but low program attendance rates, and extensive use of the trails. The results indicate several managerial implications. Examples of managerial implications include focusing less on reports of conflict, maintaining many opportunities for families, and continuing to provide opportunities for a diversity of users.
