Victimization resulting from teen dating violence is a public health and social justice issue that affects adolescent youth. While the mortality rate in the United States indicates that the leading causes of death among youth between the ages of 15 and 24 includes unintentional injuries, suicide, and homicide, this study explores some health-related risk factors stemming from relational problems that youth face (CDC, 2014). The purpose of the research was to explore whether there is a significant relationship between engaging in high-risk behaviors, episodes of victimization of dating violence, and self-reported attempted suicide amongst high school students in two areas in Southern California. A Spearman's rho correlation analysis and a binary logistic regression were conducted. In addition, two Mann-Whitney tests were performed as a follow-up analysis. The results indicated a significant positive relationship between the variables. However, it should be noted that the results represented a small effect size (Cohen, 1988).
