The phenomenon of workplace bullying is a topic of interest for practitioners as well as researchers. Research into the frequency of workplace bullying began in Europe in the late 1980s and not until the late 1990's in the United States. The repeated humiliating and health harming behavior of workplace bullying has been explored through quantitative research for years. The problem is that these quantitative studies do not explore the physical and psychological effects of workplace bullying from the victims' perspective. Today, a growing interest into the traumatizing effects of workplace bullying has increased due to the negative consequence on the victim. The study explored the effects of workplace bullying from the victims' perspective to assist practitioners in developing appropriate treatment for the victim. Implementing the case study method, seven participants who identified as being bullied at work based on the Workplace Bullying Institute definition of workplace bullying were interviewed to better understand their experience. Guided by the following three research questions: RQ1. How do people who experienced workplace perceive that it has impacted their lives, relationships, health, and work experience? RQ2. What intervention or support system, if any, helped victims to deal with the phenomenon of workplace bullying? RQ3. What were the physical or psychological effects of workplace bullying, if any? The research identified the physical as well as psychological effects of workplace bullying from the victims' experience. The findings of this research support the existing literature in that workplace bullying can have devastating health and psychological effects on the victim. In addition, the results support the existing literature of the lack of assistance from human resource or upper management to de-escalate the situation. Based on the findings from this multi-case study it is recommended that further research is needed to assist practitioners in providing best practice for their clients.
