This research study aimed to analyze current trends in play therapy. The researcher was interested in studying play therapists' perspectives of clients' receptiveness to traditional play therapy toys. With growing trends in technology and interactive media, it is vital to determine if children's preference is moving in the direction of incorporating technology in play therapy sessions. In addition, the researcher sought to analyze play therapists' readiness to employ technological interventions by reviewing their education, experience, and specialized trainings. Semi-structured interviews were performed with Registered Play Therapists (RPTs) and Registered Play Therapist Supervisors (RPT-Ss; n = 13). The present study utilized qualitative content analysis research methodology to code and categorize the data. The researcher obtained descriptions based on play therapists' experiences and perceptions surrounding technology and play therapy. The present study explored clinicians' experiences and clients' perceived experiences. Participants reflected on traditional and innovative play therapy trainings and techniques, comfort with and utilization of innovative methods, therapeutic outcomes regarding tradition and innovation, perceived effects of technology, standards and ethics of technology, and client perceived use of technology and toy preference both inside and outside the playroom. Implications include recommendations for further training and research in the realm of technology and play therapy to improve clinicians' familiarity and comfort with innovative play therapy techniques to maximize therapeutic outcomes.
