The purpose of this research study was to investigate the effects of online learning in higher education through cross-sectional surveys and interviews. The qualitative and quantitative data gleaned from this study indicated marginal significance in student engagement while utilizing voice and video threads. The findings of the study will inform future decision making by administrators and educators. Hence, the results of this study can be used to make suggestions for developing online-based lesson delivery techniques. Moreover, it will assist students regarding online learning in the efforts to enhance their performance and satisfaction. Finally, the findings of the study will contribute to the literature on student engagement, student satisfaction and faculty perceptions and attitudes in an online environment.
