This study investigated the relationships between attitudinal belief factors and smartphone users' satisfaction. The theoretical basis used to evaluate this research was the model of adoption of technology in households (MATH), which focused on utilitarian, hedonic, and social constructs. While much of the existing research on smartphone use is focused on business-related use, few studies have examined smartphone satisfaction and use from the perspective of both personal and work-related use. The present study addressed this gap in the literature by examining the impact of four independent variables: (a) applications for personal use, (b) utility for work-related use, (c) applications for fun, and (d) status gains. User satisfaction served as the dependent variable, and the role of digital age as a moderating variable was explored in a secondary research model. This study used a quantitative, nonexperimental, causal-comparative research design, and partial least squares-structural equation modeling (PLS-SEM) was used to test the relationships between the variables. The population for this study was adult smartphone users within the United States of America, and the sample consisted of 116 qualified participants, equally divided between digital natives and digital immigrants. Data analysis was conducted using PLS-SEM to evaluate a primary and a secondary research model. The data analysis for the primary research model indicated that the attitudinal belief factors of applications for personal use and applications for fun significantly predicted smartphone users' satisfaction. The attitudinal belief factors of utility for work-related use and status gains were not significantly related to user satisfaction. In the secondary model, the findings indicated that digital age did not have a significant moderating effect on the relationships between attitudinal belief factors and user satisfaction. The study's findings indicate that the most important considerations for smartphone manufacturers and marketers should be to ensure that these devices are perceived as personally useful and fun to use, as these are the factors that correspond to higher levels of user satisfaction.
