Connecting Cells /[electronic resource] :edited by Xiangdong Wang, Dragos Cretoiu. - 1st ed. 2016. - IX, 440 p. 188 illus., 151 illus. in color.online resource. - Advances in Experimental Medicine and Biology,9130065-2598 ;. - Advances in Experimental Medicine and Biology,889.
The History of Telocytes -- Decoding Telocytes -- Extracellular microvesicles (ExMVs) in cell to cell communication - a role of telocytes -- Telocytes in chronic inflammatory and fibrotic diseases -- Telocytes - new players in gallstone disease -- Features of telocytes in agricultural animals -- The subtypes of telocytes -- Telocytes in cardiac tissue architecture and development -- Telocytes - cells with a potential role in Regeneratvie Medicine -- Presence of telocytes in a non-innervated organ: The placenta -- Telocytes in exocrine glands stroma -- Telocyte behaviour during inflammation, repair and tumour stroma formation -- Paracrine signalling in the prostatic stroma: a novel role for the telocytes revealed in rodents’ ventral prostate -- Primary extragastrointestinal stromal tumors in the hepatobiliary tree and telocytes -- Cardiac telocytes in regeneration of myocardial infarction -- Telocytes: a new player in electric circuitry of the heart -- Roles of telocytes in the development of angiogenesis -- Telocytes in inflammatory gynecologic diseases and infertility -- Electrophysiological features of telocytes -- The cutaneous telocytes -- 3D nanostructural reconstruction of telocytes by FIB SEM tomography -- Immunohistochemistry of telocytes in human uterus and fallopian tubes -- A tale of two cells- Telocyte and Stem Cell Unique Relationship (Asked-160110) -- Vascular telocytes -- Juxtacerebral tissue regeneration potential – telocytes contribution -- Telocytes of fascial structures -- Hepatic telocytes.
This book elucidates the genetic, biological, morphological and functional aspects of telocytes. Telocytes are a recently defined type of interstitial (stromal) cells, with very long (tens to hundreds of micrometres) and very thin prolongations (mostly below the resolving power of light microscopy). The book describes the presence of telocytes in various organs and tissues, details their morphological characteristics, explores their genomic and proteomic profiles, puts forward preclinical evidence of their application, and discusses their potential in the context of clinical therapeutics. As such, it offers a valuable guide for biologists and clinicians alike. Dr. Xiangdong Wang is a distinguished Professor of Medicine. He is Director of the Shanghai Institute of Clinical Bioinformatics, Executive Director of the Clinical Science Institute at Fudan University Zhongshan Hospital, Shanghai, China; Dr. Dragos Cretoiu is an Associate Professor of Pathology at the Department of Cellular and Molecular Medicine, Carol Davila University of Medicine and Pharmacy, Bucharest.
