"Was muss ich eigentlich tun?" Diese Frage kommt schnell auf, wenn man mit einer Aufgabe aus der theoretischen Physik konfrontiert wird. In den physikalischen Rezepten stellen die Autoren anhand von im Detail durchgerechneten Beispielen die wesentlichen Aspekte und Vorgehensweisen beim Lösen klassischer Problemstellungen ins Rampenlicht. Damit schaffen sie Klarheit bei der Aufgabenbearbeitung, die vor allem Studierende in den ersten Semestern oft missen. Das Buch deckt den typischen Vorlesungsstoff der theoretischen Mechanik, inkl. Relativistischer Mechanik, ab. Dennoch ist es weder ein klassisches Lehrbuch noch eine Aufgabensammlung. Vielmehr zeigen die Autoren in "Kochrezepten" auf, welche Konzepte und Rechenmethoden beim Lösen von Aufgaben immer wieder zum Einsatz kommen und heben sie klar und deutlich hervor. Schritt für Schritt wird anhand einzelner Rezepte gezeigt, wie man an Problemstellungen aus der theoretischen Mechanik herangeht und mit welchem Handwerkszeug man die Aufgaben lösen kann. Die Kapitel sind aus folgenden Elementen aufgebaut: - Ein Aperitif fasst wesentliche Überlegungen und Konzepte zusammen - Die Zutatenliste gibt einen Überblick über die wichtigsten physikalischen Größen und Formeln - Die Rezepte führen Schritt für Schritt durch die eigentlichen Aufgaben - Kleine Übungsbeispiele regen "Zum Nachkochen" an - Ein Digestif rundet das Kapitel mit weiterführenden Informationen und historischen Anmerkungen ab Darüber hinaus geben die Autoren Ein- und Ausblicke, die über die bloße Rechentechnik hinausgehen. So werden Studierende inspiriert, mit Kreativität und Intuition an neue Aufgaben heranzugehen, die nicht direkt in ein besprochenes Schema passen. Die Autoren Christopher Albert ist Physiker an der Technischen Universität Graz und erforscht die Theorie von Fusionsplasmen. Er betreut seit mehreren Jahren Übungen zur theoretischen Mechanik und kennt die praktischen Probleme, die Studierenden in diesem Bereich schlaflose Nächte bereiten. Klaus Lichtenegger hat auf dem Gebiet der theoretischen Elementarteilchenphysik promoviert und forscht nun im Bereich der erneuerbaren Energiesysteme. Er hat viele Jahre lang Übungen zur Mathematik betreut und ist Autor des Überblickswerks Schlüsselkonzepte zur Physik sowie Mitautor des umfassenden Lehrbuches Mathematik.
