Einleitung. Vor der revidierten Psychoanalyse zu Adornos Kritik der Neo-Psychoanalsye von 1946 -- Das Konzept der dialektischen Psychologie. Adorno im Institut -- Adorno und Max Horkheimer -- Adorno in den Kliniken von Ernst Lewy und Fritz Hacker -- Psychologie in Deutschland nach dem Krieg: Lehrstühle, Gruppenexperiment und die Affaire Hofstätter -- Nachkriegspsychologie: Karen Horney, die Neo-Analyse und das Göring-Institut -- Ästhetische Rettung.
Das Buch verfolgt bisher kaum registrierte Kontexte von Adornos Rezeption der Psychoanalyse. Der Autor dokumentiert und interpretiert dazu ein bislang unveröffentlichtes englisches Vortragsmanuskript von 1946. Adorno richtet sich dort zwar gegen die Einschränkungen in Amerika, er zielt aber zugleich auf die Zurichtungen der Psychoanalyse 1933–45 in Deutschland ab. Diese Motive werden von ihm allerdings ab 1950 in Deutschland nicht mehr offen aufgenommen. Wolfgang Bock unterzieht vor diesem Hintergrund so gut wie alle Texte Adornos zur Psychoanalyse einer kritischen Relektüre. Er entwirft ein neues Bild von dessen dialektischer Psychologie und ihrer Aktualität. Der Inhalt • Vorwort von Anthony Kauders („Der Freud-Komplex“) • Das Konzept der dialektischen Psychologie.
