The proposed study is to assess preliminary health outcomes of a mobile-based multidomain lifestyle program, Silvia Program, and evaluate group differences in the cognitive scores and quality of life (physical and mental health) between Silvia Program users and usual care group participants. This study targets older adults living in Assisted Living Facilities (ALFs) who are at risk for dementia. The Silvia Program comprises four multidomain components: daily goal smart routine, home-based exercise, cognitive training, and mindfulness meditation. The study used a quasi-experimental design to compare both groups: Silvia Program users (N= 17) and usual care group participants (N=18). The preliminary health outcomes were cognitive function measured via Montreal Cognitive Assessment, and overall quality of life encompassing physical and mental health. For a large-scale clinical trial, I conducted a qualitative study to obtain a wide range of perspectives from participants, caregivers, and facility staff. The results of this study indicated that Silvia Program users with Mild Cognitive Impairment (MCI) showed a significantly higher level of cognitive functioning (p=.03), especially the delayed recall (p=.02) and perceived physical health (p <.001) compared to moderate cognitive impairment Silvia users. However, there were no significant changes in cognitive functioning observed between two groups after the 12-week intervention. Qualitative findings present suggestive evidence that Silvia Program can increase cognitive health and emotional wellbeing among older adults. Thus, this study provides insight into the possible health benefits of Silvia Program for older adults with MCI.
